KOREAN PHYSICAL ALBUM CHARTS

Physical album sales are one of the important aspects in getting wins for the artists for all the music shows. The album sales are counted in Korea from two main charts: HANTEO and GAON charts.

If you buy an album, make sure you buy it from a site which is approved by Hanteo or Gaon to make the sale count on the charts.

The percentages by which Physical album sales matters for different music shows and the latest criteria is shown as a bar chart in the figure.

The list of Hanteo and Gaon verified sellers are also organized here.

HANTEO CHART

Hanteo Charts are a record of individual album sales from approved stores and websites.

Hanteo Charts have remained as Korea's most verified website that counts the physical sales of albums. In KPop, Hanteo charts are used more than Gaon for performance stage votes on the network circuit for the shows that Stray Kids appear on.

GAON CHART

Gaon Charts are shipment sales (how many stores stocked their shelves with the album, did the store place reorders, individual sales from websites, etc.). Almost all sales will count at some point towards Gaon (resales and bootleg copies excluded, of course).

Gaon Charts are  used more than Hanteo in factoring end of year awards (like Daesangs). This is because Gaon shows continuation of popularity and interest.
